Total farm size: 60 ha, including 30 ha of the irrigated land.

Source of irrigation: Small river.

Area under crops and type of crops: barley - 30 ha, wheat - 30 ha.

Number and type of livestock: no.

Number and type of trees: no.

Have you expanded the area of land under the technology being tested since you first started experimenting with this package: yes/no? Yes.

Please provide more explanation, if Y to the above. The area was expanded on 10 ha, from 20 ha in 2013 to 30 ha in 2014.

Why are you interested in this technology package? What are the most beneficial outcomes that you have attained since testing this technology? A method of barley production by soil tillage without moldboard plow, zero soil tillage. At the moment, the efficiency of this technology has not been established.

What is the next best alternative to use your land, if you did not implement this technology package? I did not think about it yet.

What are the main advantages/benefits of this technology package being tested relative to the next best alternative that you identified? Zero soil tillage package technologies.

Have any of your neighbours adopted the technology package that you are testing? At present not. However, we hope that with multiple field demonstration days and seminars in 2015, the number of those who will wish to apply this package of technologies will increase.

What are the main challenges that you have faced since initiating this demonstration site? There were problems, but they were not considerable.

In your opinion, is this technology package suitable for all types of farmers? Please, explain the answer. This technology is not suitable for all types of farmers. The technology is appropriate on farms with certain types of soils.

Is this technology package relevant for females in your household? Yes, it is relevant. This technology package allowed decreasing working hours by 25-30 %.

(interview to probe on whether the technology package has affected the number of hours that females provide to agriculture, or whether it has made certain production practices easier (less labour intensive) for women (but also men))

If you had to pay the full cost for implementing this technology package, would you have initiated this demonstration site? Yes, definitely.

Please propose at least one advice that you would like to provide to the agricultural research community or a desire for the development of technologies that can assist you in improving your household’s wellbeing. Lack of processing industry makes this production a low-profitable.
